SUMMARY:HBA Pro Series - The Realities of Risk Transfer
DESCRIPTION:Risk Transfer Realities is a plain English course on how insurance policies and subcontracts can and do interact in the residential construction context.  Agents\, builders\, contractors and developers will find a common understandings of how insurance requirements are determined and verified\, how coverage is triggered in a subcontract\, how to avoid unjustified insurer subrogation\, and how various types of coverage may be involved.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nRisk Transfer Realities is taught by UP HBA member Treacy Duerfeldt.  Treacy and his family grew up in Marquette\, Michigan.  During his 31 years in the insurance industry\, he has served on the National Association of Home Builder's committees on Construction Health and Safety and Construction Liability and Building Materials for over a combined 10 years.  His organization\, Nationwide Contractors' Alliance Inc.\, is an education and services group with a wholesale managing general agent affiliate included.  NWCA currently serves the needs of 1000s of builders and contractors\, ranging from one person shops to 3 of the country's top 150 homebuilders.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nRisk Transfer Realities is an introductory course.  Various other insurance and risk management concepts will be taught to varying levels of depth starting later in 2021 and will make up the Construction Insurance Risk Education (CIRE) curriculum.  CIRE strives to assure mutual understandings between agents\, builders\, contractors\, and developers in the residential construction context.  Insurance agents in certain states can already take two courses for regulator approved continuing education credit: Insurance Overview and Smart Cyber Insurance.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe HBA Pro Series courses are coordinated by the HBA of Michigan.
