MIOSHA Fall Protection Training
Instructed by: Jim Getting, PhD CSP
Senior Construction Safety Consultant
MIOSHA Consultation, Education and Training Division
Falls are a leading cause of workplace fatalities in Michigan. In 2017, 15 of the 38 work-related fatalities in the state were caused by falls. Workers performing tasks 6 feet or more above lower levels are at risk of fatal falls or serious injuries.
The workshop describes the fall protection rules in MIOSHA Construction Safety Standard Part 45: Fall Protection that typically apply to residential construction operations. Examples will be given showing feasible means of complying with the rules while performing common residential construction tasks. There will be time to ask questions about fall protection and any other MIOSHA construction safety and health rules.
